Hi Coach! Welcome to WLD - let's get started.

Take the two assessments below.  One will define the skill level of YOU and the other will define the skill level of YOUR TEAM.  Once you finish both assessments (about ten minutes each), keep scrolling to read how you can personally adapt each of our drills to maximize your experience.

BEGINNER TEAM & BEGINNER COACH

  • Read and re-read each drill you choose for practice. Your players will ask questions, so make sure you are prepared.

  • Choose one or two “Key Coaching Points”

  • WHY? Key Coaching Points are a few focal points to use when coaching the drill. Choosing only one or two lets you bring your focus to smaller details and not get overwhelmed by the complexity of the drill! This also creates an easy learning environment for beginner players. Choose the focal points based on what you can handle and what your team needs!

  • Choose 2-4 “Key Coaching Points”

  • WHY? Key Coaching Points are a few focal points to use when coaching the drill. Since you are an intermediate coach, you can handle coaching many aspects of each drill. Choose the focal points based on what you can handle AND what your team needs!

  • Edit the drill.

  • WHY? You are advanced enough to know the strengths and weaknesses of the team. With that information, you should be able to make changes to the drill to better suit your team. For example, if your team needs to work harder on 50/50 balls, change the 1v1v1 Drill from passes in, to ground balls in.

intermediate TEAM & ADVANCED COACH

  • Choose 2-4 Key Coaching Points

  • Do not overwhelm the team by giving them drills they cannot handle. Break down the drill for them while keeping them challenged.

  • Edit the drill.

  • WHY? Know your team and know their strengths and weaknesses. This will help you change small parts of the drill to utilize it best for your team.

ADVANCED TEAM & intermediate COACH

  • Most of the drills are written for an advanced coach, read thoroughly and make sure you understand all parts of the drill.

  • Check the "Highlighted Skills" section and see how you can use that to alter the "Key Coaching Points" to better suit the needs of you and your team.

  • Then, edit the drill to give your team exactly what they need.

  • Example of edit: change the drill from passing in, to sending a ground ball in.
