⭐ Description of Skill
1. Positioning
Find the Open Space: Move constantly and look for gaps in the defense. Good positioning is crucial to getting a clear shot at the goal.
Stay Alert: Keep your head up and be aware of your defenders and teammates. Anticipate passes and be ready to shoot quickly.
2. Stick Handling
Grip: Hold your stick with your dominant hand at the top and your non-dominant hand towards the middle of the stick. Maintain a firm but flexible grip.
Cradle: Keep the ball secure while moving. Effective cradling helps you maintain control and makes it harder for defenders to check the ball away.
Keep the stick out in front of you! With inside shooting you have a much smaller space to work with.
3. Footwork
Balance: Maintain a stable stance with your knees slightly bent to enable quick changes in direction.
Quick Steps: Use quick, decisive steps to get into shooting position. This agility will help you evade defenders.
4. Shooting Technique
Aim: Aim for the corners of the net where the goalie has less coverage. High shots to the top corners or low shots to the corners are typically harder for goalies to save.
Follow Through: Extend your arms and follow through with your shot. This will help ensure accuracy and power.
Deception: Use fakes and jabs to throw off the goalie. A quick fake can create the opening you need for a successful shot.
