3v2 Flip

3v2 Flip

This is a fun and dynamic drill

This Drill Highlights:

  • Woman up/ Woman down

  • Learning and repping flip passes

  • Expanding offensive possibilities

Description:

This drill begins at a cage on the goal line extended and says around the 12m because we are pushing to the goal.  Start with the team split into offense and defense.  The goalie will be clearing to an offensive player to start each rep, whichever side she clears to (switch every play) 2 offensive players will join the drill from that line.  1 offensive player joins from the side without the ball.   2 defensive players join as well.

A1 receives the pass from the goalie on the move, above the 12m, and carries towards A3 who is also running toward A1.  When A1 and A3 meet they do a flip pass. A3 then carries towards A2 and does a flip pass.  All offensive players have to end up on the other side of the field. Example, after A1 and A3 flip. A2 can’t just cut to the cage with her right hand, she has to come over the top and switch sides of the field. Once this happens, 3v2 to cage!

Important to Note:

  • For beginners - Let the flips happen before the D is allowed to challenge

  • Intermediate to Advanced - full D - players can flip, fake flip or pass depending on the D pressure

  • Add players to make a 4v3 (2 offensive players from each line)

  • Add players make a 5v4 (3 offensive players from ball side line)
