Embracing the Journey - A Summer of Lacrosse

As the summer sun sets on another season of club lacrosse, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible experiences and cherished memories that it has brought. Watching my daughters play and learn the game they love, coaching dedicated players, and witnessing the thrilling tournaments have been the highlights of this summer.

One of the greatest joys has been seeing my daughters’ growth throughout the season.

From my oldest daughter, Riley’s, journey, transitioning from the B team last summer to becoming dominate on the A team this year, it’s been inspiring. Witnessing her dedication and hard work paying off has filled my heart with pride. But most of all I enjoy just seeing how much she loves the game.

Even more heartwarming was my youngest daughter Lily’s transformation.

Lily went from being anxious and tearful before a game in her spring youth season to falling in love with the game during summer lacrosse. Thanks to the amazing coaching staff who passionately conveyed the fun and awesomeness of women’s lacrosse, Lily took the leap, embraced the sport, and discovered the power of taking risks.

The tournaments have been a whirlwind of excitement, fun, competition, and intense heat! From the thrill of watching close matches to the joy of celebrating victories with the team, every moment has been unforgettable. The vibrant atmosphere, complete with shaved ice, food trucks, unique lax gear, team photos, and lively music from DJs, made each tournament a unique and memorable experience.

As a coach, I really enjoyed working with a dedicated coaching staff and the team. Witnessing how they evolved from strangers into a cohesive unit, supporting and pushing each other, has been truly rewarding. The growth of their individual skills along this journey has been a testament to the power of teamwork and hard work.

As the summer draws to a close, I’m filled with gratitude for the invaluable experiences and memories made on and off the field.

Club lacrosse has taught me the beauty of watching young athletes flourish, discover their potential, and come together as a tight-knit lacrosse family. The bonds created, the lessons learned, and the memories shared will forever hold a special place in my heart, making this summer of club lacrosse one to remember for a lifetime.
